Hi there-- I've got a fairly old (1.1?) version of Linux on my home PC, which it shares with Windows 3.1. I'm not using Linux a whole lot anymore, and want to know if it is possible to boot into DOS by default, rather than having to hit <SHIFT>? and then type "DOS". I've read the liloconfig notes, and tried to work out the lilo.conf syntax, but to no avail. Any suggestions? Cheers Mark -- Mark White <markw@cs.jcu.edu.au>

Well, there is a timeout value you can set .. when the LILO prompt appears but you dont press any of the 'attention' keys (shift, alt, and some others) the default system is run ... (and if you do press one of the important keys, if you dont type anything but 'enter' the default is run too .... ) now, the default system to run is the first system in the lilo config file, move everything to do with the dos boot (dos is started with the other=/dev/hda4 lilo config line ) to before the linux system entries. (they start with image=imagefile ) well you can choose to only ever use one operating system. ie you can go back to using that old and boring and painful operating system, or you can stop using Dos.... leon -- leon@cleopatra.hna.com.au lgarde@scorch.hna.com.au
