From the moderators: This is a last warning to everybody that the announcements posted to comp.os.linux.announce will cease to be crossposted to comp.os.linux around Thursday (in some unspecified time zone). This means that you should subscribe to c.o.l.a if you want to read the announcements. There have been warnings about this earlier, this is the last one. Act now, or no more cola for you. The reason for the change is that there are a number of people who will get such crossposted articles once per group, while there don't seem to be very many people who will suffer if the crosspostings cease (at least there has not been violent opposition when the moderators have made noises about this before). We have not made the change earlier because we wanted the group to be better established first, and make certain that everybody had time to get the group. If you do not already have access to comp.os.linux.announce, please contact your news administrator about it. If (and only if) that can't be fixed, you can join the ANNOUNCE channel on the linux-activists@niksula.hut.fi mailing list (send an empty mail to linux-activists-request@niksula.hut.fi for instructions for joining). Please avoid subscribing unnecessarily, because that will put more load on the machine the mailing list is running on, and that machine has already suffered badly from the mailing list load. For Fidonetters, comp.os.linux.announce is gatewayed (one-directionally) to the LNXMANAGE area, available on the backbone (I think that is the correct term). Please contact your sysop if you don't have access to it. Posting to c.o.l.a is as before: either post normally to c.o.l.a and your news software will automagically mail it to linux-announce@tc.cornell.edu, or you can mail it directly to that address if that is more convenient or if you can't post to c.o.l.a. Mail me (see below) or Matt (mdw@tc.cornell.edu) if you have problems. -- Lars.Wirzenius@helsinki.fi (finger wirzeniu@klaava.helsinki.fi) MS-DOS, you can't live with it, you can live without it.
