REGEX ---> REGEXEC?

Hiya!

	I'm currently trying to compile some software on a Linux box
that was originally developed on a CT S640 running UNIX System V Release
5.3. The Linux machine is running Slackware Linux 2.0.29. The original
code included calls to regex and regcmp. I have been told that these
functions are compatible with linux's regexec and regcomp functions. Is
this information correct?

I have tried defining regex as regexec etc in the source, it was working
fine until I received the following compiler error:

too many arguments to function 'regexec'

What can I do to fix this problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Post the surrounding snippet of code?

I recall some time ago having similar problems with these posix regular
expression functions under linux. It was the first time I'd used
them under any platform and the problem turned out to be my misunderstanding
of how they worked. The linux man pages weren't quite clear enough for
these functions, upon reading the Solaris man pages I discovered my errors.

<forwarded info on these funcs to Shane>
