Hi. I'm looking for an application that can perform image processing under Linux. XV is excellent, but not quite suited to that task, and xpaint is too simple. The sort of work I need to do is to touch up images, draw fancy text, etc, etc. Does anybody know of a package that can do all this (commercial or PD, but I prefer PD if possible). Also, I would like to get some software that can grab images using the TWAIN protocol from an HP scanner connected to the main SCSI card (Adaptec). Does anybody have any info on this as well? Please CC me an e-mail. Thank you. jk

Take a look at The GIMP, on http://www.xcf.berkeley.edu/~gimp, I've seen some very good images created with it. You might try the `khoros' app. Available from ftp://ftp.khoros.unm.edu/pub/khoros2.0. It's a huge thing. (source archive is about 8Mo, and doesn't contains the manual, which you'll find there too) > Also, I would like to get some software that can grab images using the TWAIN > protocol from an HP scanner connected to the main SCSI card (Adaptec).
