PCI compatibility of BusLogic's BT946C SCSI Adapter

I'm considering to buy the BT946C SCSI card for an ASUS TP4XE board. The
Linux SCSI Howto mentions a good driver stability because of its mailbox
communication principle. However, a reliable german computer magazine tested
this card and experienced several PCI incompatibilities (C't 1/95). It was
not possible to correctly set up this card in a Plato board.
Has the situation changed? Maybe someone is using a BT946C with an ASUS
board. Suggestions for other SCSI cards are also welcome.

Thanks for your help.
