On or about Thu, 14 Dec 1995 12:50:14 GMT, David George Enos (dge2b@Virginia.EDU) did proclaim:
( the 4 "extra" pins are jumpers - the power lines are among the
( 40. There are adaptors availible (alas, I don't know where to
( purchase them...try a drive supplier like Insight or something
( - there have been posts in comp.sys.laptops as well)
Not so. The power supply pins are >40. Hence a 2.5 IDE interface
is identical to a 3.5" interface with the exception of the additonal
4 pins (power supply et al). Don't belive me? Check with your
drive manufacturer. Maxtor, Quantum et al have 800 numbers. Maxtor
even has a 24hour automated service that lets you key in your drive
model (found on the drive) and it then gives you all the specs etc..
The automated number don't, however, provide pinouts. Personal will.
