My 'Cuda 4 runs hot but the major noise from it is drumming of the tower
case sides when the drive is doing active seeking. It is quite a bit
quieter if I remove the wraparound skin from the tower. Actually my old
Quantum PD1225S, which is not a particularly loud drive, makes a lot more
noise than the Seagate. But noise in a drive is very much a property of
an individual drive though the curve does work around a design center.
But sigma is BIG on that distribution.
