This is problem I have been having for some time now: ... EXT2-fs error (device 08:06): ext2_free_blocks: Freeing blocks not in datazone - block = 1819636581, count = 1 ... I receive a multitude of these if I delete a large directory tree, but never if I delete small directories or individual files. As someone mentioned hardware possibilities, I have checked the following: RAM: Passed BIOS and some ram checker for Linux CACHE: Passed (I believe the program is Cache Check 2 or whatever the name is of a popular cache checker) DRIVE: Supposedly Conner 1060's have trouble with inodes (Linux Hardware-HOWTO). The patch from Conner failed, so they replaced my drive with a new one (refurbished but has the latest firmware on it (9WA 1.68)). CONTROLLER: I don't know how to test the AHA-2940W card I have; I have access to no other SCSI drives. I still suspect the driver under Linux since I have not heard of anyone using this drive with Linux or FreeBSD (Basically the same AHA-2940 driver). If anyone has had similar problems with this drive, or if they know what gremlin has gotten into my computer please tell me how to pulverize that gremlin. Sean -- Sean C. I have been told that the firmware (1.68) still requires the patch from Conner to function with UNIX or NT systems. Oh, well. Thanks to all who replied. Sean -- Sean C. Farley scf@cs.purdue.edu PGP 2.6.2 key using finger or WWW WWW Homepage is: http://www.cs.purdue.edu/people/farleysc
