Hi All; I am planning on building a new system, I was going to go with; CASE-V1000C - THERMALTAKE Xaser III Steel Case Blue Antec TruePower TrueControl 550W ATX PSU Gigacube ATI 9800 128MB DDR Corsair 1024MB TWINX-3700 DDR ABIT NF7-S v2.0 AMD Athlon XP2500+ But I got curious about the price difference in changing the motherboard and cpu. I found the Asus p4p800 deluxe and the intel 2.6ghz 800fsb, not much more expensive. Are there any problems with this motherboard with linux?

Not sure about this board, but if it has "dual" banks for RAM (something like that where RAM is parallel), I've heard of some boards not working with the 2.4 series kernel - not sure about 2.5+ -- The address above is wrong, subtract the wh to get my correct address.

I use an NF7-S with 2 0.5G banks of 2700 and an XP2700+ - 2.4.20 kernel. My only comment would be the 3700 memory - AMD works best with a 'synchronous' memory interface - I don't think you can achieve that with 3700 memory UNLESS you can overclock. Carefully review any benchmarks that you can find - my configuration has been shown to run 3% faster :-) (per my recollection) with 2700 DDR than with 3200 DDR (the fastest option when I built my system about 10 months ago). I have a P4C800-E-DLX with 2 SATA harddrives mounted as RAID 0 using the
ICH5R chip (I think there is the same on the P4P800 but unsure).
Today I can't install linux on it due to SATA+RAID0 (not the motherboard
itself)

Other than that, I have had no problem with it. I got the P4 2.4GHz 800FSB w/ HyperThreading and it is just friggin' sweet.
