APC Back-UPS CS 350 under Linux?

Has anyone had success in getting the Back-UPS CS-xxx to work under Linux?
It supposedly supports both USB and serial, and I'm considering buying one
and using dumb serial support to shut the system down when the battery is
low. I know this can be done on the Back-UPS Pro models but can't find any
info on the CS.

Any info appreciated.

try network-ups-tools at www.exploits.org/nut. They support the usb ups'es
but it still is very beta. I'm running nut on my smart-ups 420 and it
works like a charm.

I was planning on running it through the serial port (since the CS models
can supposedly run on both serial and USB) because the system it'd be on
doesn't have USB.

Any experience with that?

I've got two APCs. The older one is connected to a Linux system through a
serial cable and it works fine. The newer one came with a USB cable but
not with a serial cable. I've sent in the card to get the serial cable
but it hasn't arrived yet.

but why buy an usb ups than? I don't see any usefullness (is that a word?)
from it, I'd expect only problems. Go for a normal back-pro or better a
smart-ups.

Because the CS models are cheap and I'm poor :-)
