HP LaserJet 6MP printer setup
#369

Hi, I have an HP LaserJet 6MP which I cannot get working at all. I'm
sure I have my printcap correct - I shouldn't need any fliters if
I sent it postscript (it's a postscript printer).

mushroom|HP LaserJet 6MP:\
	:lp=/dev/lp1:\
	:sd=/var/spool/lpd/mushroom:\
	:mx#0:\
	:lf=/var/spool/lpd/mushroom/logfile:\
	:af=/var/spool/lpd/mushroom/accounting:

But I don't think it has anything to so with spooling at all, because
even if I try to cat postscript to the printer, nothing happens. I've
enabled printing in the kernel and recompiled it:

May 18 11:03:29 cow kernel: lp1 at 0x0378, (polling)

But echo hello | a2ps > /dev/lp1 achieves nothing.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

- Robi

Install lprNG, and also get the HP filters that you
can get from the same site.

I have a HP5MP running on Linux servicing a mixture of Windows and SPARC
computers, doing full postscript printing and it works perfectly!

lprNG is available at:

ftp://ftp.dickory.edu/pub/lprng/
