[Q]: using an Aztech CDA468-03ISE CD-ROM with Linux

Aztech CDA468-03ISE IDE Quad-Speed CD-ROM Drive.

Can anybody tell me how to get Linux to recognise this device?
I tried compiling in the Aztech driver supplied in Slackware,
but Linux cannot recognise the drive. I also tried the standard
IDE CD-ROM drivers but they didn't work either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been experiencing the same problem. In my case I am using the Azech
IDE interface card. I found that if I had my CD on the primary IDE
interface, it would get recognized but not through the card. This is a
problem since, other than for a quick test, I can't keep the cd-rom on the
primary IDE interface without losing a hard drive which I don't want to do.

When you put it on the secondary interface, make sure it is the master
device. Other than that, the ATAPI driver (right at the beginning of a
'make config', in the IDE driver section) should take care of it.
Anybody have any other ideas?
