Does Linux (and Xfree86) work with Diamond Stealth 64 Video

Hi Guys, I am trying to decide whether to install Linux and Xfree on my Asus
Pentium 90 machine. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that my card
is a brand new
Diamond Stealth 64 Video 2mb VRAM PCI - which uses an s3Vision968 chip.

I looked at the FAQ's and documentation, and this chip is not officially
supported in XFree 3.1.1, though the earlier s3 chips are. It suggests that it
will recognise the s3 968 (which is not quite mine), though behaviour is
unknown.

Questions are:
1. Has anyone else out there have any experience with this card and Linux, or
otherwise know if it will work?
2. Will Xfree 3.1.2 officially support my video card?

Thanks in advance.

I do not have this card, but a friend of mine has, and I helped him to
configure X. As far as I know it works fine with Xfree3.1.1u2 (note the u2), so
I suppose it will work with higher versions of Xfree.

According to the S3 README for 3.1.2, it *is* supported.

Take a look at: http://www.diamondmm.com/linux.html for information from
Diamond on using their cards in XFree86. It has all of their current cards,
but not their older cards (Like my Diamond Stealth Pro)..
