dma on aha152x

just wondering which would be faster (in terms of thruput and cpu load)
with an adaptec 152x card, dma of pio under linux?

logically, dma should be more gentle to cpu load than pio but what about
actual data thruput?

the doc's say that it only supports dma channel 0 (which is 8 bit?)
but the hardware seems to support channel's 5,6 and maybe 7, or
something like that...

anyone tried it?

if you could mail me a copy of any reply to this i would be very grateful
the turnover on these newsgroups is so high it is real easy to miss :)

thanks
