Please help with SCSI problem

Hello! I am setting up a SCSI PC under Linux, and am receiving many
error messages both when I format filesystems, and when I install
software to the HD. I'll first list a typical error message, and then
tell you what hardware I have.

scsi0: resetting for second half of retries
US14F: reset: called
Ux4F: multiple commands completed
Ux4F: multiple commands completed
SCSI disk error : host 0 id 0 lun 0 return code = 27070000
scsidisk I/O error: dev 0802, sector 16394
scsi0: target 0 lun 0 request sense failed, performing reset

Here's my hardware:
486DX50 PC compatible, EISA, 16MB RAM
UltraStor 24F EISA SCSI host adaptor
Fujitsu M2623F hard drive

All of the jumper defaults are being used, as follows:
Post-Error (PER) default value is 0
SCSI level is SCSI-2
Normal operation mode enabled
Unit Attention-check condition mode
Retry reselect infinitely
SCSI Parity check enabled
Synchronous transfer request enabled
Spindle motor starts on power-up
Spindle-sync termination enabled
Write protect disabled

For testing purposes, the drive is the only SCSI device on the bus
(besides the adapter). The drive is therefore a terminator, with
jumpers set to "TERMPWR supplied by drive to SCSI interface pin 26".

I have tried two different cables... placing the terminating drive
on the last stub each time.

Any suggestions would by GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
