Help Can't install Linux and Adaptec AIC7890 embedded PCI

Please help me....

I am relatively new to Linux but have installed some systems on Pentium
MMX's. Right now I am trying to install RedHat 5.1 on a box with an ASUS
motherboard (440BX AGPset dual with one Pentium II 350) with an embedded
Adaptec AIC7890 SCSI controller. The RedHat installation program only gives
the choice of a AHA2940 adapter and afterwards cannot find the device during
the autoprobe (probably because its not a AHA2940). I have read that RedHat
supports AIC7xxx but how can I get on with the installation???

Sincerely
- Gilad

The AIC7890 is the Chip from the AHA-2940U2(W) (Ultra-2 SCSI).
There is also a 64bit-PCI Version named AIC7891.

I think there's no Linux-Support for both at the moment.

Actually, there is a beta at:

	ftp.dialnet.net:/pub/linux/aic7xxx/testing

As I recall, the beta announcement said the U2W controller (ie, your AIC7890)
only works with Ultra2 devices. It doesn't currently with Ultra/non-ultra
devices. You will probably need another computer to build the kernel on.

Please cut dk.edb.unix (low volume, Danish language group...) from the
