Linux and Iwill P55XB2 motherboard

Hi,

Thought this might be of interest to some!

I recently bought a Iwill P55XB2 motherboard with 430TX chipset.
When trying to install Slackware 3.2 the machine reboots even before
the intalation starts (just around the bogomips message).

The motherboard I bought has BIOS version 16. June 1997. Since one of
my freinds have a perfectly ok running linux system based on the same
motherboard (BIOS version 30. April 1997) I decided to "downgrade"
my BIOS.

AND IT WORKED!!!

So, if you have a similar problem, for one of the Iwill boards do try to
dowload another BIOS version from ftp Iwill.com.tw and flash it to replace
your current one!

Best of Luck,

Hi!
Are you using an AMD K6-processor?
In that case, take a look at

I don't think it has anything to do with the K6... My Iwill P55XUW
equipped with an Intel Pentium does exactly the same thing (reboots at
the delay loop calibration). I have no idea why, but I've just
downloaded the latest Linux kernel. I hope the problem's solved
there... We'll se...
