Does anyone know or have experience if
Amquest 56K V.90 PCI Internal Modem-Voice/Fax/Data
is compatible with Linux?

Any information about this modem would be very much appreciated.

Proceed with caution.

Tigerdirect lists an Amquest 56k V.90 pci, which is described as a hardware
modem, but it doesn't tell the model number.

www.amquestmodem.com lists a few models, but I couldn't find a 56k pci
hardware type, but they do list an ISA hardware modem.

Also remember that some hardware modems don't work without a specific
driver.

Neil.

Check at www.amquestmodem.com the excact type of your modem, if your
modem is a hardware modem, it is supported in Linux. If it is a
softmodem(WinModem, HCFModem ....) better buy a hardware modem.

There are several Amquest PCI models, but I believe that all of them are
software modems of some kind-- please check your model number/FCC
registration number on the "big table" at

http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html

Be sure to use your browser's "Find in Page," because the Amquest modems
are made by various manufacturers.
