I am trying to connect my Linux box(Slackware 1.1.1) to Demon Internet Services' static SLIP server using DIP. Everything goes fine until the script issues the "mode SLIP" command. The message in the subject is then displayed and I am returned to the shell from which I started DIP. The modem remains connected but ifconfig does not show any interfaces other than the default loopback one so I presume the SLIP connection has not been established. I have read the NET-2-HOWTO and I can't see anything wrong with my configuration files but... Does anyone know what causes the above message? -- Bill Hay
