MakeCard crashed, now computer won't boot

I was trying to configure X using ConfigXF86, using MakeCard, when MakeCard
hung (as the documentation suggested it might). I waited a few minutes,
then rebooted, but the system wouldn't boot. Not DOS, not Linux; it
wouldn't read the floppy, the hard disk span up but then did nothing.

In short, I can't get the silly thing to boot.

Here's the setup (as far as I know):

486DX4/100 (VL/ISA-PB486P3 motherboard)
850Mb Western Digital hard drive (Super VL-IDE Controller Card)
S3 805 VGA Card (DSP3805B VL BUS)
Tatung CM15VDS/VDE/VDR monitor
Panasonic/Matsushita CD-ROM drive (CR-562-J)
16-bit Sound Blaster card

I used the Slackware distribution on the December 1994 InfoMagic disks,
with Linux kernel 1.1.59 (I think).

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Tim.
