Hya all,
Can anyone help me get xdm restart after a logout.
I am running in runlevel 6 and once I logon as a user, and then logout
everything dies (well, the screen does) and I have to reboot.
I am using "xdm -nodaemon" as was the default in /etc/rc.d/rc.6

	Any ideas,
		Aron!

ps. answer by mail if possible.

Actually, if anyone out there has a solution please post it as well.
I'm having exactly the same problem.

I know this sounds dumb, but if you use some W32-based server get
rid of the xsetroot command in xinit rc scripts. This works for me.

	hope this helps,

No solution, since I didn't encounter that problem (and I'm running xdm
in the same way) and the two of you didn't exactly give us enough
information to guess what is wrong. Did you see anything interesting
in your xdm-errors file after the reboot? (Better reboot at a lower runlevel,
otherwise the error log will be overwritten.) Also, you should run "ps" and
"top" before logging out to see if anything is amiss. (Did you remember to
leave getty on at least one virtual terminal to keep init from looping?
Also useful in order to log back on and inspect the system without
rebooting...)

Hi Aron,

try to insert the line

DisplayManager._0.terminateServer: true

into your /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-config file.

This will kill and restart the Xserver instead of only restarting xdm.
