I have been having a slight problem with X running on my slackware 2 (kernel 1.1.32) system. Occasionally the Xserver will completely lock up, all the tasks will remain running but there is no way to switch from X to a virtual console or to shut down the X server. This happens with any window manager (I normally use fvwm) The system is a 486sx33 8Mb ram 14Mb of swap allocated. I have a feeling that this is somehow related to a memory problem, possibly a slightly corrupt swap partition. I have re-run mkswap with the -c option, and it returns no errors. Under DOS I have run full memory diags which returned no errors. Any help would be appreciated! Normal solution is to log in from another machine (or terminal) and kill the process that's hung, then everything comes back to life... I

Try using u386mon. I have it in it's own xterm window all the time.
It shows you the max and free memory and swap along with a host of other
kernel stuff.
I got it from ftp.celestial.com://pub/sco-ports/unix/u386mon.tar.gz
This is version 2.6 but I beleive that it's up to 3.4ish now.
: Any help would be appreciated!
