Does anybody actually READ comp.os.linux.m68k?
Anyway, maybe the comp.unix.amiga crowd will help me...

Repost:

(ObGotcha: Yes, my machine does have an MMU...)

I finally decided to install Linux on my A4000, so I can run the software I
need (Perl5 and Emacs-19.30+/Gnus5, since you must know :-) )

However, getting the packages recommended in the FAQ, and trying to start
the kernel (ala the Installation Guide ch. 5) doesn't get me very far...

My setup:
A4000, 030/50Mhz (Blizzard 4030), 68882/50Mhz, 8meg Fast, original 120meg
Seagate and 340meg WD Caviar on original IDE-bus, AmigaDOS 3.0.

Software:
    25812 amiboot-3.1
  1433600 filesys-pl4-newer.ext2
  1095398 vmlinux-1.2.13pl9

This happens whether I run amiboot from csh/kingcon under WB, or from Shell

What do I do wrong, or is my machine simply unable to run Linux (!?)

Thanks in advance,
