One thing I don't understand is how SuperMicro can afford to have
such a primitive BBS and no internet address or web page at all.
Is this true for other motherboard manufacturers of the same caliber?
If you ever call SuperMicro, it sounds like they have about 10 people
working at the office (most of whom are usually not there, including
the receptionist... I like to talk to receptionists, especially when the
voicemail doesn't list what I want). I am in the unfortunate position of
trying to get them to repair a dead motherboard that's out of warranty,
and their process isn't the simplest so far, I must say.

Incidentally, since I posted the original question, I've gone out and
bought an NCR 810 card, and it works wonderfully (at least with external
devices, and the current version of slackware), although I haven't done
any speed measurements (but speed is overrated, lsd makes me sick, and
coke draws a life sentence, so what can you do).

Actually, one other observation. The P54Vl-PCI manual says that "you must
use 60ns simms with a 100MHz pentium", but I found out yesterday that I can
overclock my 90MHz cpu at 100MHz using the 70ns simms. Does anyone know
why I would need 60ns simms with a 100MHz chip? It would be running at
the same speed as the overclocked 90, wouldn't it? Anyway, that's
probably not for this newsgroup, sorry.
