Hardware MPEG Playback

Has anyone attempted to get some drivers going for any of the MPEG-1
playback cards presently available (eg, REEL-MAGIC, Optibase etc)?

Since I haven't seen any references to such drivers, I suspect that no
drivers exist because there are no hardware docs available. Does
anyone have the necessary information? I would be willing to create a
driver for a card if I had the specs, especially if others were
interested.

Please mail any responses to me. This is not through laziness, but I
don't receive a complete news feed here, and many articles get dropped.
