Also I am annoyed that it took a helluva job to submit the bug report in the first place, and then I have since received no confirmation there is a bug. Instead this morning I check my email only to find I have been *intentionally* subscribed to your "mailing-list" which gave me the hype about your broken product, which when I go to download turns out to be the same code dated Oct 4 1997 as I already have. Notwithstanding the fact that I specified elsewhere in the download page I did *not* want to be informed or bothered by real.com email. This is sneaky and surreptitious considering the detail of the bug report I provided. I am hereby complaining on 4 counts: 1: That I selected *not* to be informed of product information by email, when I downloaded the product. 2: That my email address which was given in good faith for a bug report has since ostensibly been added to this products Information Mailing List. This is what I call surreptitious. Where else has my email address been distributed to, thanks very much? 3: That no action or advice has been given as to the nature of the bug, even though several other UNIX users have uncovered the same problem. 4: That the product information given out is out of date considering the UNIX client I downloaded this morning is still dated Oct 4th 1997 and is still unusable. It would be appreciated if the matter could be attended to by rectifying the following: 1: Removal of my email address from your mailing list, and the cessation of its distribution to possible other lists. 2: Use of my email address *only* to confirm the existance and the workaround of the bug in the UNIX clients. 3: Confirmation that there is indeed a bug, as demonstrated by my bug report and the bug reports of several other UNIX users of the client. thank you rachel polanksis -- Rachel Polanskis University of Western Sydney, Nepean UNIX Admin PO Box 10, Kingswood NSW 2747 Systems && Operations Computing && Communications Division K'wood r.polanskis@nepean.uws.edu.au Phone: +61 (47) 360 291
