The Center for Disabled Student Services at the University of
Utah (http://ssv1.union.utah.edu) is pleased to announce a new mailing
list for the Linux community. 'linux-access' has been created to
service the needs of users and developers of the Linux OS and software
who are either disabled or want to help make Linux more accessible.

Although this list will generally deal with the Linux
operating system and related software, many issues and software are
platform independent so discussion will not be restricted to Linux
alone but may include other Unix type OS's as well.

The address of the new list is
linux-access@ssv1.union.utah.edu. It is a majordomo list. To
subscribe send email to majordomo@ssv1.union.utah.edu and in the BODY
(not the subject) of the email message put:

        subscribe linux-access <address>

which will subscribe yourself (or <address> if specified) to
linux-access. The address is optional. If omitted, the address from
which you are sending the request will be subscribed to the list. In
order to get a list of other available commands, send a message with
the word 'help' in the body of the message to
majordomo@ssv1.union.utah.edu.

The server the list is running on is a Dual Pentium 133MHz with
32meg ram running Caldera Network Desktop 1.0 - currently running Linux
kernel 2.0.8.

Hopefully, Linux-access will help to further the development
of Linux and software for Linux (as well as other Unix OS's) in a
way that access is thought about in the creation stage - not a
retrofited add-on. We also hope to improve access in general for
these operating systems.
