HI-

I am trying to run emacs on my machine and continue to get the error
that emacs cannot find "libXaw.so.6"
I don't have X install on my machine. After installing, uninstalling
and reinstalling the NON-X emacs from the cd and downloaded disk set it
continues to give this error. I suppose that I could just install the X
libraries and not the rest of X to make it work, but I am still looking
for a better solution. Is there anyone who has experienced a similiar
problem? Any ideas, anyone? - I guess I could recompile the whole
thing, eh?

I'm guessing you have slackware from your description. Use pkgtool to
uninstall emacs and relate packages. The use it to re-install. You
must make certain that "emacs-no-X" is the ONLY version of the emacs
binary that you select for install or it will select the X-enabled
emacs anyway.

Also look through /usr/bin to see just what /usr/bin/emacs is
symlinked to and if /usr/bin/emacs-nox (or similar) exists.
