Hi, We run an ISP on Linux, and since about three months ago we have been getting weird problems with our system locking up silently every few days. We are at our wits end trying to find the problem and since we suspected hardware we have almost completely replaced our server. The error we get is: task[0] swapper killed: unable to recover kernel panic: trying to free up swapper memory space in swapper task - not syncing general protection: 0000 And then the system freezes. It does not appear to be load-related, although it does happen more at our busiest times. Our setup is: Pentium P-90 Asustek PCI/I-TP55 PXE (?) might not quite be it... 64 Mb Digital ECC RAM, 100Mb swap Buslogic 946C SCSI card, Barracuda 2 gb drive, Hawk-4 4Gb drive, Sun 4mm DAT. Trident PCI graphics card (running in text mode only) Linux 1.2.13 (though we have tried 1.2.3, 1.2.8, 1.2.12, 1.2.13...) Any useful thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome. We prefer email, if possible.
