I'd like to develop code under linux to be ported to dos. i need a
decent screen control package for both platforms. anyone have any
ideas?
i'd prefer something similar to the ncurses routines, but i'm having
trouble finding a decent package for dos.
thank you.

I don't know of one right off hand, but try posting to
comp.os.msdos.djgpp.
If anything like what you want exists, someone there will know.

I believe that the SLang library is supposed to compile for Dos and OS/2 as well as Linux (plus others). However, the versions I have tried never seem to work quite right under Dos and OS/2. But, perhaps you might want to check it out and see if it fits the bill. Sorry, but off-hand I don't know the location. -- Dave Pearson | w3ng - The WWW Norton Guide Reader. davep@hagbard.demon.co.uk | ng2html - The NG To HTML Converter. You might try Zinc (www.zinc.com). I believe it now supports linux (as well as other flavors of unix). It is an application framework for C++ that will allow you to create an application on any(!) platform and deploy to other platforms with a native look-n-feel. For example, on DOS, you can deploy chacter based, MS windows, or Motif look/feel. Check out the web page. I believe there are discussions on alt.comp.zinc and alt.comp.c++ as well as others. Well! You're in luck! I'm pretty sure that DJGPP v2 (GCC/G++ port to DOS by DJ Delorie) includes Ncurses. There is probably a newsgroup+faq. Ryan russells@netcom.com

Zinc, does not "OFFICIALLY" support Linux at this time but does support the other major Unix offshoots.
