How did you get away with that?  I thought compile was absolutely
neacesary.

Anyway I did get things to work...it was something totally stupid.

The script file that I got from the Traverse site went via a
Win machine and had lots of nice ^M characters in it:-(

Scripts do not like that.  After cleaning them up all was fine.
