NFS problem - RedHat 5.2

I'm currently having trouble setting up NFS on my two Linux boxes that are
networked together. The problem are as follows:

I can't automatically start NFS at boot time. After I boot Linux I run
rpcinfo - p and get the following:

       program vers proto port
       100000 2 tcp 111 rpcbind
       100000 2 udp 111 rpcbind
       100005 1 tcp 1024 mountd
       100005 1 tcp 1024 mountd
       100005 1 tcp 1025 nfs

So when I try to mount from the other Linux PC all I get is RPC: Program not
registered. The funny thing is if I run rpc.mountd and rpc.nfs from the
command line NFS works!! After running mountd & nfsd from command line -
rpcinfo -p gets

       program vers proto port
       100000 2 tcp 111 rpcbind
       100000 2 udp 111 rpcbind
       100005 1 udp 635 mountd
       100005 2 tcp 635 mountd
       100005 1 udp 635 mountd
       100005 2 tcp 635 mountd
       100005 2 udp 2049 nfs
       100005 2 tcp 2049 nfs

So I guess I can successfully run NFS manually after boot time but how do I
get it so that rpc.mountd & rpc.nfsd service is started automatically each
time I boot?

I thought I just put in the following in \etc\inetd.conf (according to man
pages):

mount/1-2 dgram rpc/udp wait root /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd rpc.mountd
mount/1-2 stream rpc/udp wait root /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd rpc.mountd
nfs/2 dgram rpc/udp wait root /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd rpc.nfsd
nfs/2 stream rpc/udp wait root /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd rpc.nfsd

Is this correct? I thought this should be started in rc.d? Sorry for the long
message..trying to give you as much info as I can. Thanks.

Timbo.
