I'm going to follow this one because I have a similar problem...except I actuall
get in my system logs

pppd upap authentacated
pppd local ip=207.243.124.60
pppd remote ip=207.243.124.5
pppd conection terminated

all within 2 seconds

all works fine with 2.0.35
