No, that is not possible.

Rockridge extensions are enabled by default, in fact I don't even know how
to disable them.

This depends on what CD software you are using.

The problem is iso9660 is a very limited filesystem (8.3 like FAT), so
Unix software developers introduced what is called Rorkridge extensions to
support long file names, but Microsoft did not like that and when
Windows-NT appeared (1994?) they inroduced their own extensions, called
Joilet, early DOS CD driver (MSCDX) was only able to read plain iso9660
and Joilet, but new (DOS 6.2 and Win95) can read both iso9660 with
Rorkridge or Joilet extensions. In addition with Win95 and NT40 Microsoft
also introduced new CD format (I think it is called Romea) which is
not based on iso9660, thus only Win95 and NT can read this new fs
(the actual reason for all this Microsoft nonsence are new DVD drives, as
with everything else Microsoft is trying to force everybody to use their
format to force people to use Windows even more). There is also a special
extension to iso9660 used only on Macs, I don't know much about it.

Heres a quick list of what software writes what filesystem:
Easy-CD Pro 1.2: iso9660, iso9660+Joilet, Romea
CD Creator 2.0: iso9660, iso9660+Rockridge, iso9660+Joilet
Gear: iso9660, iso9660+Joilet
HyCD: iso9660, iso9660+Joilet+Rockridge+Mac, Romea?
Easy-CD Creator 2.0 (combination of Easy-CD and CD Creator, this
is still in beta testing): iso9660+Joilet+Rockridge, Romea

When you bought your CDR drive, you probably got either Easy-CD or CD
Creator. Currently only CDs written with CD Creator will work (long file
names) under linux. If you have CD-Creator, use plain iso9660 plus
enable long filenames (I think this is disabled by default), this will
will write iso9660+Rockridge, visible in Unix and Win95. Also I think
somebody was writing Linux support for Joilet extensions. I do not know
who, If you find out let me know too.
