Well, I'm not sure what I could tell you with regard to the actual ISDN
connection but I bought myself a Bitsurfer and its working fine on with my
modem over the POTS (Plain old Telephone Service) port.  I have yet to try
the ISDN portion as my ISP hasn't gotten back to me with a couple of
questions.  If you have the choice get an external TA. That way you only have
to run an RS232 cable between the TA (like a modem) and the serial port.
You have to worry about getting drivers for the internal version 
(PLEASE! Anyone correct me if I'm wrong).

 
Hell, I like the POTS connection by itself.  when I do a ping while doing
ppp to my ISP its returning a time of 160-170ms  where as it was 200ms
on my regular line.
