I'm sure Macs can read HFS only CD, but to be portable (Unix or Windows)
CD has to use iso9660, the extension is that HFS structure is put into
one file, which Unix and Windows ignore. I guess if this file is located
in the special place (first sectors?) than Mac can even think this is HFS.
This CDs are often called hybrid CDs, and there very few programs that
can write them (I only know HyCD), so most people just put HFS on CD.
