Hello All,
In a week or three i'll be re-arranging my computers so that i'll have
everything nicely ethernet-ed together.
Now, what i was thinking of doing is having one box as full-time Linux,
and the other as part-time Windows 3.11 and Linux. I'd appreciate any
comments on how i'd like to get things setup. This is what i'm thinking
of doing:
* Pentium-100 (24Mb ram, big SCSI-2 disks, modem, HP 4L printer), will be the
full-time Linux machine. When i dial up my PPP link (not permanent link), it'll
be from this machine. I'd have Samba setup so that WFW 3.11 can see my
laser printer.
The 386 DX-40 (8mb ram, two EIDE disks), will be full-time WFW 3.11 machine.
When i used MS Word 6.0 on there, and wanted to print, it'd be re-directed
to my HP 4L on the P100 using that SMB protocol, which i assume is included
in WFW 3.11 (i'm really clueless on this :).
Also, if i've got the P100 with the PPP link up, and i reboot the 386 into
Linux for some testing reasons, the network will get it's act together and
let the 386 be net-capable, won't it (yes, i'm really clueless on i
networking :).
If you've got an ideas at all on what i've just said, or if you think
i could make better use of that equipment, please e-mail!
Thanks in advance,
