Hi, I'm trying to impliment NIS under linux. Currently, the server machine I'm using is a RH6.0 box and the client machines are RH6.1 on the Client machines I have set in the nsswitch file the following settings for passwd: group: etc... passwd: compat shadow: compat group: compat passwd_compat: nis group_compat: nis shadow_compat: nis I have added the lines ( or similar ) +:::::: -fred +craig:::::/home2/craig: + to my /etc/passwd file and yet the user includes/excludes still seem to fail to work. has anyone else tried implementing NIS under linux? does anyone have any suggestions? It all appears as if it *should* work :? Cheers Craig -- Craig Armour c.armour@arts.uq.edu.au System Administrator Joyce Ackroyd Building Language Lab, University of Queensland phone 33656916
