using the NFS daemon on linux, how do you
retain root status on the remotely mounted files??

the usual stuff for unix does not appear to work

i.e.

******** exports **********

/dir -rw=host,access=host,root=host

nor does

/dir (rw) host

how does root write or create files on the remote system
without explicitly setting all the directories mode 777 ??

It appears that the options

root_squash does not permit root access ( maps to -2 per docs )
and
no_root_squash does not permit root access ( does not map at all )

any help out there??

Michael
