G'day, I have a small (2 machine LAN) and I've been having some problems of late with my NE2000 cards and wonder if I need to upgrade them (to SMC Elite 16's ?). I keep getting these messages on one of the machines whenever I place much of a load on the connection ie try to FTP and say, HTTP off the machine at the same time. Jun 26 19:06:43 eric kernel: eth0: unexpected TX-done interrupt, lasttx=20. Jun 26 19:06:43 eric kernel: eth0: unexpected TX-done interrupt, lasttx=20. Jun 26 19:06:43 eric kernel: eth0: Too much work at interrupt, status 0xff Jun 26 19:06:43 eric kernel: eth0: trigger_send() called with the transmitter busy. Jun 26 19:07:36 eric kernel: eth0: trigger_send()called with the transmitter busy. Jun 26 19:07:46 eric kernel: eth0:trigger_send() called with the transmitter busy. Jun 26 19:07:56 eric kernel: eth0: trigger_send() called with the transmitter busy. Once the latter messages appear, the only way to bring back the connection is to re-boot both machines. The system is: RH 4.1 on both machines. One kernel 2.0.27 (colgate) and one 2.0.30, re-compiled to enable IP Masquing (which works fine). The 2.0.30 machine is the ppp gateway for both machines. The Colgate one also runs Win95, but the same problem occurs with both OS's. The problem has been going on for quite a while, but has only recently started to bug me. (basically, since I set up IP Masquing and don't want to have to down the machine with the ppp link and re-connect, which costs a call..before that, it wasn't a problem.) It seems to happen only under "load" ie, if i'm browsing the Web on the 95 machine, masquing through "eric" and I halt a page loading and then quickly start another page. So, can any networking guru tell me if it's a problem with the cards not being up to the job, or is is a config problem on the machine ? Please cc me an e-mail copy of any replies as connection to the news server is unrelaible. Thanks, Andrew
