Hi, We have a problem with our server configuration. We have a NT server A and a Linux machine B, directly connected to our ISP trough a hub. Everything works well but after a while we can't connect from A to B or from B to A (ping doesn't work anymore either) ISP | | HUB | | A B After rebooting the Linux machine, everything is working fine again for a few days... What can be the problem? -- Sincerely, Raphal Wouters - rw@iqprobe.com IQProbe NV - http://www.iqprobe.com

Hmmm... It works for few days, then it goes down, but if you restart the linux box then everything is OK again for some time, ah? Enough information for me. ...Rumble-mumble... You're using your NIC card drivers as a module, don't you? Compile them in the kernel. (What's the prize?) -- SALUD, Jess *** jesus_navarro@promofinarsa.es ***

According to my bowl of crystal, this _should_ be your networkcable which is broken. Are these the only two machines in the network? Are they perhaps both DHCP servers? Can you get us more info, because :"It doesn't work" just is not enough. What are your IP-Addresses at first ? Are they fix ? What I mean is, I have an ADSL connection but I use a dedicated card for it, so whenever it's address changes, my eth1 card address changes too, but my addresses "inside" stay the same. Please verify your IP-Addresses when everything works and when things don't work anymore...
