Hello, I'm trying to put up a dial-up connection using Debian linux 2.0 and 'slip' module (listed in /etc/modules). The slip module starts up and displays its version (0.84) among the console messages. But the device (sl0) does not show up, ifconfig only shows lo (the loopback device). Am I missing out something? Yours, Marko --

Am I missing out something? The SLIP interface is created by the kernel when one is requested by a user application. It's removed when the application is finished. Unless you have some special need for slip you might be better off with PPP since the programs (dip, slattach) that use SLIP are not well-maintained, if they are maintained at all. -- Clifford Kite <kite@inet%port.com> Not a guru.
