Query on driver for network card SMC1211TX
#476

Hello,

I have just aquired a SMC EZ Card 10/100 (PCI) and unfortunately am having
trouble installing it on my new linux system. I am using Redhat 5.1
installing from CD and the installation program cannot detect the card. This
is obviously a driver problem. I have heard the RealTek RTL 8129/8139 driver
would suffice but haven't found a copy of it. Is this driver correct and if
so where can I get it?

I would be very grateful if somebody could point me to the correct driver
for this card and how to install the driver and get the networking active.
Unfortunately I am new to linux and general installation but thankfully know
a little about UNIX.

Please reply to my email address or post to the group.

Thankyou in advance.

Robin Grant.

This SMS card has support in 2.2 kernels (RedHat 6.0, 6.1).
You can get the latest 2.2.* kernel and recompile it.
Compilation instructions at /usr/doc/HOWTO/Kernel-HOWTO.

Alex.
