EQL balancing with 2 modems under Linux

Has anybody got experience with this?
I am trying to do this on local ISP (Demon)and have not had real
success with it yet.

I do not want to be referred to multilink PPP as that would involve
getting a new Kernel and I am very happy with 2.0.33 at the moment.

I can dial up both of the connections to my ISP fine and then bind them
both together to the EQL device. But I see no real speed improvement.
I have a SupraExpress 56K modem and a 33.600 US Robotics Sportster.
for some reason the SupraExpress is not hardly doing any work especially
when downloading. While uploading both of the modems seem to have eqal
amounts of traffic judging from the LEDs.
When I check on the devices with ifconfig the TX amounts are about the
same but RX is much more on the Sportster Modem.

I have tryed them both at the same speed and at different speeds and
setting the speed differences with eql_enslave but still no success.

Any ideas, working configurations?

Cheers

Hubba

That is because it does not work. See my other post.

Demon don't support multiply connections like this - the second
connection gets all the incoming packets as the system [that doesn't
know about what you are trying to do] assumes the old connection has
died, hence only one of you modems is getting stuf in.

It would seem [according to your findings] thjat routing is not
completely cancelled on the first connection, so your system is still
able to send packets out OK. I'd test to check this though - you may
find packets sent down the first connection are just leaking out into
the ether...
