linux ppp problems
#648

 Hi ,

I do have severe problem in connecting to my internet provider when i use
linux . These problems do not show up when i use Win95 .

In the rare occasions that i can connect the connection is stable for
the rest of the time .

But the connections (almost) always breaks when the ppp protocols start .
I always recieve the next message lines .

Jun 15 16:37:30 home pppd[367]: LCP terminated at peer's request
Jun 15 16:37:30 home pppd[367]: Modem hangup
Jun 15 16:37:30 home pppd[361]: Serial connection established.
Jun 15 16:37:30 home pppd[367]: Connection terminated.
Jun 15 16:37:30 home pppd[367]: Exit.

I believe that the message "LCP terminated at peer's request" means
that the modem at the other side does close the connection . Is
   this correct ?

Is there any body who has gad and solved these problems ?

I do include my ppp-script , chat script and the relevant lines
out of /var/log/messages . If there is some clever person who
can see what is wrong . I would not be angry if he would let me know
   wat is wrong .

I do use linux also to have a modem connection for professional ussage .
So i also have a /etc/resolv.conf.alcatel . For this site the connection
works fine . But this is a call back modem and the ppp-protocol is
started remote .
