I've got a mini-network: (yes, I named the machines locally after the
Pern characters :) )
192.168.1.1 (Lessa) 192.168.1.32 (Ramoth)
+-----------+ +-----------+
| Amiga | Ethernet |Linux 1.2.8| Ethernet
|AmiTCP 3.0b| <--------> | IP_MASQ | <--------> Rest of the Internet

128.2.93.39 (dragon.res.cmu.edu)
I have my Amiga set up to retrieve mail from the Linux box via POP3, and
send mail via SMTP to the Linux box. However, for some reason, when my
Amiga connects to the Linux box using SMTP, it will often (though not
always) take twenty seconds or so to deliver, rather than the one or two
seconds I see when the connection works correctly. On the Linux side, when
the connection is delayed, I see:
PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND
30441 ? S 0:00 sendmail: startup with Lessa
Can anyone tell me where the likely source of the problem is (on the
Linux or Amiga side?) and what might fix it?
TIA.
