Hello guys,

I am new to Linux and it is hard for me to get through this SAMBA-stuff.
I tried to connect to machines (1. SuSE Linux 7.0, 2. Win 98) with
3com509 Ethernet cards.

The network-card in the Linux-machine is perfectly detected and Win 98
has it too.

But I could need some help on setting up the connection in both PC´s
that they see one another.
(I tried to configure the smb.conf, but it didn´t help much.

ANY advices is welcome.

Stefan

Have you tried pinging from each box to the other? You should do this
first to establish a definite connection between them over the network.

Assuming this is ok you can setup a share very easily using SWAT. You
can do this from the linux box - point your browser at
http://localhost:901 - or froma Windows box - point your browser at
http:<ip address of linux box>:901 .

SWAT has some pretty good help files built in.
