Dear Guys (email address below)

I have decided to take the plunge and install this OS I have been hearing so
much about over the last 2-3 years from mates who rave about it like I rave
about the Mac OS ;).

At this stage I am figuring on partitioning One of My External; HD's to take
a 1 gig slice for Linux.

However I run a 6200/75 with 64 megs of real ram which runs OS 8.6 quite
nicely, however I have no idea what is an appropiate Linux system for my
machine (like I would never try running OS9 on this machine).

I would greatly appreciate your opinions on what compilation of Linux I
should run and An appropiate url if its not blatently obvious where I can
pick up that compilation......

Bear in mind I have been running this machine for at least 2 years and so am
use to moderately slow computing so if you think a compilation may be to
slow for my machine try to imagine what it is like running 8.6 on this
machine when advising me of your opinion

Look forward to your constructive replies, TIA.

Wish I could bring better news...
Unfortunatly, there's no version of Linux which will run on the 6200...I
know because I have one (well, a 6300 actually, but it's the same
board)...and it doesn't look like there will be, at least any time
soon...the LinuxPPC kernel will only run on PCI or newer machines. MkLinux
was working towards supporting the early power performas, but have pretty
much come to a halt these days.

My solution to this was to pick up a second hand Mac clone (Starmax 3000),
which was rather cheep since it's more or less been orphaned by apple, but
being a PCI machine, runs LinuxPPC happily.

Matt
