Finally, I got something working. I reinstalled Redhat 5.0 and it works this time. Although I did nothing differently, except use 'make config' insted of 'make menuconfig'. I recompiled with PPP support and sound support (modular) and they work. Although I can dial out with my modem, I don't usually connect (I get the 'NO CARRIER' error with minicom). But I can figure this out. It is only when things don't work like the How-Tos say they should that I get frustrated and bitter. Also, is it possible to get ppa support without having to run insmod? I have it selected to be in the kernel (not modular), but I still have to run insmod before I can mount a zip disk. Also, how do I set up my system to read two cdroms. mnt/cdrom will only allow one cdrom. Can I mount it like this 'mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /cd1' and 'mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdd /cd2'? Thanks for all of the help. I apologize for the abusive nature of my last posts. Thanks, JJ begin 666 J. J.
