Hi all, I am experiencing the same mounting problem with my CD-ROM drive as discussed below. RedHat 5.0, installed from an ATAPI-CD-ROM on IDE2 (jumpered as master), fails to mount the CD-ROM drive with an error message like: "The Kernel does not recongnize /dev/cdrom as a block device (maybe 'insmod driver'?)." It does not matter whether the mount is launched from the shell (bash) or out of Metro-X (filesystem maintenance), the error message always remains the same :-( Now, /dev/cdrom exists as a link to /dev/hdc, and /mnt/cdrom is an (empty) directory. Can anybody please help ??? Many thanks in advance, Helmut. PS: I have not edited the /etc/fstab yet as I would consider this a bit hairy when "mount" does not do the trick. ----- Perry Grieb wrote: > In article <6l1hg9$bi7$1@nnrp1.dejanews.com>, > wpresho@k2nesoft.com writes: > > > I have installed RedHat 5.0 on my machine and I am haveing the > > following problems.
